RECORD SHOOTING LICENCES "This must be a record for New Zealand," said Mr. F. E. McKenzie, president of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, at last night's meeting, when referring to the number of game licences issued by the society last season. In 1937, a total of 3035 licences of a value of £3758 was issued, compared with 3086 to the value of £3822 for 1938.
A decrease in tho number of hawks killed in the society's area was reported. In 1937, catchers were paid £232 for 9297 pairs of hawks' feet, but this year £l2l was paid for 4854$ pairs. Fewer stoats and weasels wero' exterminated in 1938 than last year.
