EOOPE BOOSTER GAMES SEMI-FINALS TO-DAY KEEN MATCHES ANTICIPATED The semi-finals in the Jloope Rooster competition of the Auckland Rugby League will be decided at Carlaw Park this afternoon, when the two matches on the No. 1 ground should be fast and keenly fought. The winner of the Roope Rooster will meet Marist, winner of the championship, .in. the champion of champions contest and in, view of the coming visit of the Eastern Suburbs team, Sydney, all the teams this afternoon will be striving their utmost to take the honours. ' In the principal fixture the improving City combination will try conclusions with Manukau and there should bo many thrills for the spectators. City lias already caused two surprices by eliminating Mount Albert, runnerup in the championship, and Newton, ajid a win for the club to-day would bo very popular with enthusiasts. In spite of the fact that Manukau is a strong all-rcrund side City is expected to make a great bid for the honours. ....

A fast exhibition should be provided in the curtain-raiser between North Shore and Richmond. Both teams adopt the open style and past matches between them have nearly always been close and exciting. Teams eliminated in the Koope Kooster competition will contest the Phelan Shield to-day, the draw for matches being as follows-.—lSewton v. Ponsonby. Carlaw Park No. 2, 1.30 p.m.; Mount Albert v.
