MUNICIPAL BAND

Sir, —As chairman of the Municipal Band Retention Committee sot up at the public meeting of sympathisers held on Thursday, September 8, I wish to submit that a totally wrong impression of the proceedings was given in the report of the meeting. Anonymity was asked for by the conveners of the meeting only. There was no question of anonymity being either asked or desired by the committee itself. Further, no political inferences of any sort were made from the platform or by the committee. Any comments of _ a political nature were made by individuals present in open discussion, and a specific request was made from the platform that as the matter under consideration had no possible political bearing such remarks should be completely disregarded. Chairman.
