PAPATOETOE RATES
COLLECTION SATISFACTORY The. collection of about 65 per cent of the current year's rates within the rebate period was reported at the Papatoetoe Town Board last night. Tlie - town clerk, Mr. W. Young, reported that £5272 had been paid up to August 31, out of a total lew of £Bll4. This was slightly less than last vcar, but there had been a larger collection of arrears. Last year £451 had been collected and this year over £930 had been paid. That was £3O in excess of the board's estimate for the whole year. The chairman, Mr. Ji. J. Kendall, said the statement suggested that a good collection would be made of current rates for the year. Members expressed their satisfaction ith the position.
