KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR

BOY SERIOUSLY INJURED ENGAGED IN TRAINING RUN [BY TETjEGRAFH —own correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday A training run undertaken to-night by four Foxton hoys in preparation for a' boxing tournament ended unfortunately when one boy, Len Eagle, aged 12, was struck by a motor-car and suffered serious injuries. The accident occurred about two miles north of Foxton on tho main highway. Dusk had fallen and tho boys were proceeding at a slow pace, i'lie car was driven by Mr. W. Hines, of Bainesse.

The boy was attended by a doctor at Foxton, and was then taken to tho Palnierston North Hospital. It is reported that ho has a fracture of the base of tho skull, a broken thigh bone and a broken shin bono. His condition is regarded as serious.
