ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS (Received September 6. 5.5 p.m.) PARIS. Sept. 5 Germany was the most successful country at the European athletic championships, winning seven firsts. Finland won five and Britain four. S. C. Wooderson (Britain) won tho 1500 metres in 3m 53 3-ss. This was several seconds slower than J. 10. Lovelock's world record of 3in 47 4-5s (established at the Berlin Olympiad in 193G). which it was believed Wooderson was attempting to beat.
