WAVE OF STRIKES
FRENCH INDUSTRIAL AREAS LONDON. Sept. 2 A new strike wave threatens tho northern industrial arena in France. JTn addition to the textile workers and dockers 1100 Lille tramway workers have struck for higher wages. Twenty thousand jute workers at Lille have also struck as a. prote.st against a 15 per cent wage reduction, says the e Paris correspondent of tho Daily Telegraph. Coal owners and miners have reached an agreement and removed the strike fear. The miners will work an extra 11 days for six months from September 1 in return for a 6 per cent increase in wages.
It is estimated that the increased output will bo 2,000,000 tons, saving £3,000.000 formerly sent abroad. It will affect British exporters considerably.
