CHURCH ARMY WORK

MAORIS AS EVANGELISTS NEW CADET ENROLLED The training of young Maori men and women as evangelists in the Church Army is to be undertaken as soon as possible, as the result of a decision made at a meeting of the Church Army Board. It is proposed that they should assist the Anglican Maori clergy in their work among the Maori people. At a service conducted by the warden .of the training college, Canon F. W. Young, at the headquarters chapel of the Church Army yesterday, Mr. H. G. Ryan, of Blenheim, was enrolled as a cadet and candidate for training. The cadet was presented by Captain F. C. Pearce and the field secretary. Captain S. R. Banyard, presented the badges to Mr. Ryan. The ceremony was followed by the celebration of Holy Communion.

After undertaking special work in Hawke's Bay, Captain A. M. H. Dewar commenced new duties yesterday in the parish of Otahuhu, where he will work with the vicar, the Rev. J. Stanton.
