FAMOUS MISSIONARY
DR. E. STANLEY JONES ! BRIEF VISIT TO AUCKLAND , In honour of the visit of a famoul American missionary, Dr. Eli Stanlej Jones, who is a through passenger bj the Aorangi for Vancouver, several gatherings will be held in Auckland ten day. Dr. Jones is famous for his wor# in India and is also widely known a| the author of books on theological sub* jects, one of the best read being "Th# Christ of the Indian Road."
■ Dr. Jones will be met at the wharf this morning by representatives of various Churches, including the Yery Rev. George Budd, superintendent of Presbyterian missions, and the Rev. F. Copeland, chairman of the Methodist Missions Board. There will be at mayoral reception in the Mayor's room at the Town Hall at 11.30 a.m. and at noon Dr. Jones will address a publia meeting in the Town Hall, over which Dean Fancourt will preside. A meeting of clergy will be held afi the Pitt Street Methodist Church at three o'clock this afternoon, where Dr. Jones will be the principal speaker. will deliver an address at a public meet* ing in the church this evening/ Dr. Jones will proceed to Vancouver by the Aorangi to-morrow.
