STOCKS AND SHARES
THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE AUSTRALIAN ISSUES STEADIER Although dull conditions persisted in ; n vcst~ment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange on Saturday morning Micro were signs that tl.o doclino in upport for Australian issues has been nrrested for the time being. Buyers soii-ht several of the market leaders, including broken Hill Proprietary, Elcc-trolvtic Zinc and Colonial Sugars, which are the best international counters, at slightly firmer rates, tellers immediately hacked ofl in practically every instance and Woolworths (Sydney) was the only oversea issue in which terms were arranged. Support was either withdrawn or was weaker for most of the New Zealand companies, uncertainty concerning the new company tax being widespread. Xhe market, however, was not really tested in any transaction. Farmers' Fertilizer were 2s (3d lower than last business, but ibis was transacted on a cum dividend basis. On the other hand, Dominion Breweries' rights rose 3d to 4s 3d with more wanted at -Is At.
