ENGINEDBIYEBS' CASE LENGTHY NEGOTIATION APPLICATION SETTLED NO AGREEMENT ON WAGES [BT TELEGRAPH —PItKSS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON*, Wednesday Tho scope of the award, wages and hours wore discussed at the second day's hearing of the Dominion enginedrivers' dispute in Conciliation Council to-day. After lengthy negotiation agreement was reached on the scope of the award, but wages and hours were referred to the Arbitration Court.

The parties agreed that the award should apply to the following classes of workers:—lOnginedrivers with first and second-class certificates, drivers of steam locomotives and traction engines, firemen, greasers, trimmers, guards and/or locomotive firemen, locomotive cleaners, steam-roller drivers, and/or steam grader drivers, oil burner attendants operating a two or more jet burner, enamelling or paint baking oven workers substantially employed to attend, regulate, or control electric motors, and/or stationary internal combustion engines.

The question of the applicability of the award to engine operators in mines is to be referred to the Arbitration Court.
