YESTERDAY'S SALES RETURN ON . INVESTMENTS Following is a list of yesterday's transactions on the New Zealand Stock Exchanges and the yield at the quoted price. The exchange premium on dividends payable in sterling is included, and allowance is made for British income tax where necessary, but no allowance is made for brokerage, nor are bonus dividends taken into account. The yield on Government loans includes redemption.

THE MINING MARKET NEGLIGIBLE MOVEMENTS NO BUSINESS REPORTED Movements in share .. values were negligible in the mining market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Xo transactions were reported. Offers for metal issues showed a tendency to weaken. Holders of Marthas made a concession during the day. Closing quotations were: —

YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS Following is a list of yesterday's transactions in mining shares on New Zealand Stock Exchanges:— DUNEDIN EXCHANGE North Broken Hill, 45s (id. VICTORIA INSURANCE PREMIUM INCOME HIGHER A profit of £52,210 is shown by the Victoria Insurance Company, Limited. Melbourne, for the year ended Juno 30. This compares with a profit ol £47,760 in the preceding 12 months and with £45,380 in 1935-36. A final dividend of 3s a share, payable to-day, is recommended, making a total of 5s a share for the year, or 12J per cent, unchanged. Premium income for the year is set down at £374,157, compared with £344,210 in 1936-37, and income from interest and rents at £24,147, compared with £21,517. An appropriation is made of £25,000 to reserve fund, making it £295,000. The company's £2 fully paid shares are quoted in Melbourne at £6 7s.
