JOCKEY CHARGED

EARLY MORNING ARREST REMANDED UNTIL MONDAY Arrested at an early hour yesterday morning, a jockey, Michael Stewart, after 23, later appeared before Mr. W. ft. McKe'an, S.M., in the Police Court, on a charge of breaking and entering by night the counting house of Alder and Company, Limited, 130 Ponsonby Road, and committing theft. Asking that accused should be remanded until Monday, Sub-Inspector Fox said he had been arrested several hours previously. * Mr. Winter, who appeared for accused, said he was a jockey licensed under the New Zealand Racing Conference. Hd could obtain bail if it were allowed.

Stating that accused had been found coming from a garage with money he had allegedly taken, Mr. Fox asked that bail, it granted, should be substantial. Accused was remanded to appear on Monday, bail being fixed at £l5O.
