BUSINESS MAN'S DEATH
MELBOURNE MERCHANT -
Advice has been received in Auckland of the death in Melbourne of Mr. R. B. W. McComas,' a'ged 76 years, proprietor of the firm t of William Haughton and Company, Limited. He was one of the first members of the Commonwealth Bank Board, which he joined in 1924, and he was appointed acting-chairman in 1927.
Mr. McComas was a prominent Melbourne merchant and a member of the Commonwealth Wool Committee. He was one of the largest wool-buying brokers in the world, having branches all over Australia and in London. Some 50 years ago he joined William Haughton and Company, Limited, and. eventually became owner of the business.
