FLOOD DAMAGED AREAS
VISIT BY HON. R. SEMPLE ROAD WORK IN HAWKE'S BAY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] HASTINGS. Monday A visit to areas affected by the disastrous Anzac Day floods was undertaken by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. I?. Seinple, to-day. In the Esk Valley lie heard a deputation of Kaiwaka settlers and later proceeded to Tangoio, where he inspected portion of the damaged Napier-Wairoa highway. Mr. Seinple commented 011 the splendid work carried out by the Public Works Department in restoring road communications. The district engineer, Mr. Dinnie, and his staff had put up a phenomenal performance l in opening up the road as soon as they did. The use of the most modern type of roadmaking machinery had expedited the work, and in the opinion of the Minister a record which would be hard to beat in any country in the world had been set up.
