GELIGNITE CHARGE
RAILWAY STATION SAFE INTRUDER FRIGHTENED GENERAL STORE ALSO ENTERED. [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] HUXTLY. Friday An unexploded charge of gelignite was discovered in the keyhole of the Glen Afton railway station safe by the station master when he arrived at about 7.15 a.m. to-day. Apparently the intruder who attempted to open the safe was frightened away before Be was able to explode the charge. Nothing was taken from the station, and even if the safe had been opened little of value would have been found. A near by general store belonging to Mr. G. H. Edwards was also entered last night by thieves. The cash register was opened and about £'6 in money stolon, but so far as is known nothing else was taken. It is thought that the person who broke into the railway station was disturbed bv the sound of motorists approaching from Huutly, since a number passed through the township early tins morning after attending a ball « Huntly.
