TEAM'S BEHAVIOUR
VISIT TO THAMES CHARGES THOUGHT TRIVIAL UNION PRESIDENT'S REMARKS L'I'HOJI OUR OWN correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday "Wo are definitely of the opinion that these allegations are absolutely incorrect," said Mr. C. H. Jemison, president of the South Auckland Rugby Union, commenting on the alleged misbehaviour of the South Auckland representative team after its visit to Thames last week. : '* Writing to the South Auckland . Union yesterday, Mr. E. 0. Brownlee, the secretary of the Thames Union, said that the team's behaviour had caused the hotel proprietor to lodge a strong protest with his union. He stated that, in his opinion, the licensee should be recompensed for the inconvenience to which lie had been put. ' f "The complaints contained in the official letter are more or less "trivial, and are what one usually expects from • i a visiting team," Mr. Jemison stated 0 to-day. "The team left the hotel soon after 8 p.m., some to go to the pic-...--tures and some to a dance. Up to that ' time they had conducted themselves so well that they had been congratulated on their good behaviour by the licensee. The South Auckland players were nowhere near the hotel during the whole of the evening, and only re- s turned later to collect their gear. The uproar complained of must have been caused by some other persons while our players were at the dance." ; Mr. Jemison said that the union regretted the fact that the staircase top had been removed. This had been returned, and the player who took the ' not plant had been asked to replace it. He denied that any glasses had been taken from the hotel premises. "A Thames team was entertained last Saturday by one of the South Auck- r . land sub-unions, and the conduct of certain members of the team will be the subject of a strong complaint to the Thames Union," Mr. Jemison added. "This sub-union is lodging its complaint to the union concerned . before publishing unsubstantiated statements."
