ICS J'ON I) UN t] WELLINGTON, Friday The gelding King Mestor was to-day disqualified by the stewards ol the Wellingtou Racing Club for the Corunna Hurdles, which he won on the second day, .July 7, of the Wellington Winter Meeting. The disqualification was imposed under Rule 10.'! of the Rules of Racing, under the clauses relating to a horse being connected with an ineligible person.

A further inquiry will bo hold on September f>, the connections of tho horse having been called upon to explain their association with the circumstances.

Under Clause 2 of Rule KM, horses are prohibited from . being trained on any racecourse or track under the jurisdiction of any Racing Club and are ineligible to race, who are affected by any unregistered joint interest; aro owned by the wife or husband of a licensed trainer; who are owned by, or by the wife or husband of or by any person residing with or employed by a licensed jockey; a disqualified person; a person whose name appears on the lorleit list of either of Ihe official calendars; a bookmaker or bookmaker's agent; a person prohibited from entering upon a racecourse, or who has been warned off; a person who is the paid servant of any club or is employed on the lotalisntor, or any paid official of .'i race meeting.

The going was soft. Among the horses to go pleasingly were I'uroto, Prediction, Great Legion and Rurotonga. The Crooner, with a big weight, was given a working gallop over half a mile. He went nicely, but looked to be sore when ptdled up. 'lt was reported later that lie had a pricked foot.

A. McDonald had not recovered yesterday from his attack of influenza and lie is not going to Auckland. Mannwatu's trip has also been cancelled. Old Bill (Bowden), who looks very fit, strode over five furlongs. Quadroon (Bowden) ran the last four of five furlongs in 51s. There is no doubt about Quadroon's ability to gallop in heavy going. Laughing Lass (H. Johnstone) took 1.15 2-5 for five furlongs. She is doing nicely in her preparation for spring racing. The Buzzer (I. Howe) worked over a mile, running the last two furlongs in 275. The Buzzer's preparation is not being hurried, but he is improving steadily.

Karotonga was in front of Cuddler and Chore Amie at the end of five furlongs in 1.9. They ran the last three in 40 3-ss, and Marotonga was going very comfortably. Great Legion galloped half a mile, the last three furlongs taking 39 3-ss. Royal Choice (Howe) was bowling along nicely alongside Titter (Pratt), with Snigger (G. Sudan (Johnstone), who will have mer next race at Wanganui, sprinted six furlongs with Thracos (Bowden) in 1.24. Polling Home (Broughton) and the Nightmarch —Kilmiss gelding (Howe) were going smoothly to record 54 3-5s for half a mile.

TURF JOTTINGS TRACK AND STABLE NEWS Silver Court, the colt by Gainscourt from Sparc Moment and half-brother to Barotonga, is galloping very bodly at Hastings. Royal' Minstrel is reported to have recovered from the last of tho scries of mishaps that befel him- at the end of last season, during which ho won four races at from eight to 10 furlongs in Seven starts. Ho should bo a uood horse to follow in the spring. A sound preparation has been allotted the Greenmount Hunters' Steeplechase candidate Gay Cavalier, who ban been working pleasingly over the steeplechase course. Although he has little l'orui to recommend him, his condition and jumping ability may make him difficult to beat in his engagement to-day.
