BRITISH GIRLS LEAD THE WORLD
BRITISH girls have the finest figures in the world. British men are not so fit as the Germans. German girls are too "hefty. French girls use too much make-up. Miss Prunella Stack, 23-year-old leader of the Women's League of Health and Beauty in England, has reached these conclusions. She led 45 British girls at Germany's Strength Through Joy Convention at Hamburg, then attended a gymnastic festival at Helsingfors. "What I saw of the girls of 30 nations at the German Convention convinced mo that the English girl has no Equal for grace and beauty of figure," Miss Stack told the Sunday Chronicle. ."Our greatest rivals are the German girls, but they are inclined to be rather too big and muscular. They look fit
and sunburned and they enter into their exercises with great enjoyment, but they do not concentrate as much as we do on achieving beauty of figure. "I noticed that the German girl eats a lot more than the British girl at meals, and this, I believe, is one of the reasons for her greater plumpness. . "There was a sharp contrast between the French and German girls. Ihe French contingent used a great deal of make-up and their attraction was more artificial than that of the openair Germans." Miss Stack was able to draw comparisons between the average young Englishman and German. "The average German is fitter and healthier. That is because the Germans have much greater opportunities for exercises and athletics. "1 have said for a long time that Britain should have an organisation for men similar to the League of Health and Beauty for women."
