Protecting Garden Plants
Lupins, delphiniums and a few other hardy border plants generally start into growth early in spring if the weather is mild and the young shoots are very liable to be damaged by slugs. These plants may be protected from harm by covering with coarse sharp sand or grit. Ashes should not be used or some of the shoots may be killed. A sharp look out should be kept for slugs. In every garden there is some favourite hiding place. Clumps of llax and kniphofia will j be sure to yield a good catch of the I pests.
