The Story - Book Party
A poem for all boys and girls who-have had the measles: — Johnnie next-door had a party to-day, But 1 couldn't go, for you see Doc. said indoors I had to slay, As the measles had. come to me. So I sat on the window-seat in the sun To watch all my pals go by. And the thought of them having that lovely fun Was enough to make any boy cry. But Mum found a way to change my looks— 1 A party all by ourselves. Our guests came out of the story-books ' Lying upon the shelves. Eeyore and Piglet and Winnie the Pooh, Funny wee Donald Duck Who docs all the naughty things little boys do, So punishment's always his luck. The ten little nigger boys called that day With Minnie and Mickey Mouse. They said, "If you please, We have all come to stay, * For we like the look of your house. Dirty Bill came, though he Wasn't incited, And brought With him Peg-leg Pete. This made Clara Cluck so very excited, And Goofy fall over his feet.

Christopher Robin brought Bib and Bub From over the Tasman Sea. It took, seven days with three men in a tub And now all they Wanted Was tea. Clarabelle k™dly brought in the tea, jellies and lemonade. Tinkerbell shone for us all to see As the daylight began to fade. I was so happy I forgot about John Till Mother said, ' Time for sleep. 1 looked and found all my guests had gone And my books lying all in a heap. So I picked them up quietly and put them away. Back on their shelves for the night, But 1 heard them whisper as closely they lay Long after I'd put out the light. « —Anon.
