Game Little Bird
T)EAR ANNE SHIRLEY,—One morn, ing recently my brother saw soma sparrows eating pollard in our slied so he went to chase them away and cover the pollard but, would you believe it, a sparrow flew right up his sleeve! The poor little thing was trembling with fright but was still very game and tried to nip me when I took her out. She did nip hard, too, with her strong, short beak, for when she took hold she twisted
her beak from side to side to make it hurt harder. Of course I let her fly away. Dear me, Anne Shirley, you will have a huge mail if all your members write. You must get soma very interesting letters, too. *1 have to milk the -cows now so will say "Cheerio" till next week.—From Rose Ralph (17), Tail* marunui.
