SENIOR CHAMPIONSHir MARIST TO PLAY NEWTON CARLAW PARK ATTRACTIONS A fast and thrilling contest is anticipated at Carlaw Park this afternoon, when Marist, the leading team in the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship, will meet Newton. A win for Marist will give it tlio honours, but should Newton be successful the teams will bo equal. The championship position would bo further complicated if Mount Albert should also win its match with Pa pa k lira. There should ho lillle between the teams in the principal match, with Marist perhaps the more solid thirteen. If conditions aro fast the Newton inside backs are likely to prove a thorn in the side of tlio opposition. The forwards appear to be evenly matched and possession of the ball from the strains will play a large part -in the result.. The curtain-raiser will be between Ponsonby and Manukau and another fast game should result. Richmond will play City in the early game on the No. 2 ground and Mount Albert will meet I'apakura at 15 o'clock.
