SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP JHISTLE TO PLAY OLD BOYS The senior contests to b& played to-day under the control of'the Auckland Football Association should produce interesting competition. An good match has been chosen for the main fixture at Blandford Park, where Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys will try conclusions with Thistio. Two evenly-matched, teams. in Y.M.C.A. and Onebunga wil' take the field in ,4he curtainraiser. Metro-College will oppose the leader in the championship, North Shore, at Devonport. Tho latter side should take the honours. Abels and Ponsonby will play at. Victoria Park, while Comrades and Eastern Suburbs will meet at St. Hcliers.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS' TEAM DEPARTURE FOR SYDNEY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Friday The secondary schools' Soccer team, which left for Sydney this afternoon, was entertained by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, at Parliament House. The Hons. P. Fraser. F. Jones and H. T. Armstrong, members of the New Zealand and Wellington Football Associations and people interested in the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation, were also present. In commenting on the fact that it was the first New Zealand boys' Soccer team to go overseas, Mr. Parry said that the occasion would be an historic one. lie congratulated those responsible for organising the tour, and said that the team would be a credit to New Zealand. On behalf of the .Prime Minister, Government and people of New Zealand, he wished the team every success. Messrs. Fraser, Jones and Armstrong added their congratulations and good wishes. Mr. J. A. Milburn. chairman of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, said that the function augured well for the success of the tour. The two managers, Messrs. J. ] Walls, Wellington, and W. R. Irvine, ol Mount Albert Grammar School, was unabic to join the team, as he was su:spected of having measles. It will be on Monday whether he is fit to travel or not. If he is fit he will cross to Sydney by a later boat and if he is not lie will be replaced by A. Blackic, of Takapuna Grammar bchool.
