LAWRENCE TIBBETT
SHORT AUCKLAND SEASON The famous baritone of the Metropolitan Opera Company, Lawrence Tibbett, will commence n season of three nights at the Town Hall on Tuesday, September l.'i. So great: was the demand for seats for his recent season in Wellington that all available accommodation was sold out several days ahead of the actual concert dates. His Auckland soasoy is limited, as he will leave for America on the Monday following his last performance. Tibbettlnas enjoyed a most successful tour in Australia and everywhere his concerts have been greeted with the utmost enthusiasm. Whenever ho sings, whether it bo a great aria or a song, lie makes an impression so vivid that he captures his audience. On the stage Tibbett's manner is one of dignity and friendliness; the dignity expresses his attitude toward his art, and the friendliness his sympathy toward his audience. Everything he sings becomes a scene, and each word in that scene expresses to the full its meaning—* a meaning heightened by the varied colouring which lie gives to the tone.
