WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS
HUNT RACE MEETING REPRESENTATIVE RUGBY There will be a wide variety of sporting attractions in Auckland over the week-end. The Pakuranga Hunt will hold its annual race meeting at Ellerslio to-day, opening tho new Auckland racing season. The chief interest of Rugby enthusiasts this afternoon will be centred in tho representative match between Auckland and Xing Country at Eden Park. Tho Auckland team has been strengthened by the return of two All Blacks, while King Country has a strong team in both back and forward divisions. An interesting contest should result. The senior Rugby League championship has reached an interesting stage with a number of teams separated by only a small margin. On the main ground at Carlaw Park the performance of Newton against Marist Old Boys will be closely watched, wliilo Mnnnkau and Ponsonby arc matched in tho early a ttraction. A keen game should result at Blandford Park from tho meeting of Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys and Thistle, two of the strongest teams in the Auckland Football Association's competition. Onehunga and Y.M.C.A., which are evenly matched, should have a close struggle in the curtain-raiser. The final club fixtures in the senior hockey championship will ho decided at Remuera. Somerville will meet St. Luke's, and Grammar is matched with Mount Eden in the early game. United and University will contest tho third fixture. Tho Auckland Basketball Association's championships will bo continued at tho Windmill Road courts. A senior representative practice will bo held at 1.45 p.m. Championships of various harrier and cycling clubs are to be decided, and golf competitions will bo continued by a number of clubs.
