GREAT FUTURE
NEW GUINEA TERRITORY ROAD FACILITIES NEEDED DEVELOPMENT OF COUNTRY (Received August 12, 10.20 p.m.) BRISBANE. August 12 A great future is predicted for New Guinea by Mr. J. Kruttschnitt, chairman of New Guinea Goldfields, Limited. He said that New Guinea proper, apart from the gold-mining areas, was relatively undeveloped. Tlje country offered great prospects for the lumber industry, rubber, coffee and copra, but road transportation facilities must be provided without delay. Mr. Kruttschnitt said he was convinced air transport was inadequate and far too exspensive.
