LEAKING GAS MAIN
FAMILY AFFECTED THREE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL MOTHER AND TWO CHILDREN [BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION'] CHRISTCHUBCH. Friday A leaking gas main under tha verandah of the house where they were sleeping caused three people to be admitted to the Christchurch Publio Hospital to-day sufferingl.Jrom tha effects of mild gas poisoning. They were: Mrs. Johansen and two of her children, Beryl and Ray Johansen, aged II and nine respectively, of Hagley Street. A smell of gas was noticed last night, but it was not considered serious. The family, howerer, was affected this morning. Two other children, members of the family, quickly recovered, and it was not necessary to take them to hospital. : A new gas cooker had apparently been installed, and by some means the pipe from the main to the house had been broken. An examination showed that tht! pipe became badly rusted and broken in some way. v i . v
