UNUSUAL COLLISION

MISHAP AT INTERSECTION FOUR VEHICLES INVOLVED OCCUPANTS ESCAPE UNHURT [by telegraph OWN correspondent] WHANGAIIEI, Friday A collision involving four motor vehicles occurred at the intersection of Hunt and Bank Streets in Whangarei this morning, and although all the vehicles were damaged no one was injured. A truck owned by Hardie Brothers, and driven by Mr. L. Dwyer, was proceeding up Bank Street, and at the Hunt Street intersection it collided with another truck owned and driven by Mr. L. Stables. The steering gear of Hardie Brothers' truck was damaged, the vehicle went out of control, and careered across the road, striking two parked cars in which there were no occupants. One car, owned by Mr. H. C. Rishworth, was only slightly damaged, but the other, owned by Mr. D. J. Thomson, was forced across the footpath by the impact, and the truck and the car came to rest with the front ends interlocked. Mr. Stables' truck was not damaged to any extent, but the front ends of both Hardie Brothers' truck and Mr. Thomson's car were crumpled through the collision. PILLION RIDER INJURED TREATED AT HOSPITAL A severe cut on the right leg was suffered by Mr. John Bowman, agod 23, of Paul Avenue, Otahuhu, when he was involved in a collision between a motor-cycle and a car at the intersection of Market Road and Great South Road last evening. Mr. Bowman was riding on the pillion of the motorcycle when the accident occurred. He was taken in a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, but was able to return home after receiving treatment in the casualty ward.
