THE STARS LOOK DOWN
Dear Anne, Shirley—l often wonder if the stars are really the eyes of the angels. Surely .the angels look down upon us through those darling peeps of silver that twinkle so brightly in the clear, evening skies. And really, what is more wonderful than a starry night? The sky is filled with little silvery blots and the milky way runs like a great white river across its wide sphere. , Then the moon will rise tranquil and golden, shooting her crystal rays through the gums and making those tall trees black silhouettes against her glow. Weird creatures seem to be outlined among the branches. There are witches on broomsticks, quaint fairies, ugly gnomes and gay elfin folk pointed toes". Tjove and best wishes fiom Elizabeth Gow, Whakatane.
