d MOUNT EDEN PRESBYTERIANS d ls PROGRESS DURING THE YEAR ;s A- credit balance for the year of £l4O ' c compared with £ll-4 last year was reported at the annual meeting of the e .Mount Eden Presbyterian Church. The d Rev. J. Douglas Smith presided over a '1 large attendance of members of the church. Total revenue for the year amounted to £1785, of which £471 had been contributed to missions and relief funds and £JOO to paying off debt on church property. It was announced that so far £l3oo had been promised by members .of the congregation toward the Centenary Thanksgiving Fund. > t Progress was reported in the various v activities of the church throughout the e year and services had been well at!s tended. The church had no settled min- : > ister in charge for half the year as I the Rev. J. A. Allan had resigned last December to take over the professorship in New Testament studies in the Theo-i i' logical College at Dunedin and the Rev. h J. Douglas Smith was not inducted until last month. e Occasion was taken to present the jr newly-inductetl minister with a minister's gown from members of the con- - gregation. The session clerk made the II presentation and Mrs. J. B. Ramsay invested Mr. Smith with his new robe. s Mr. R. Lowry retired by rotation from tho board of managers ami was re-elected, and Mr. D. 13. Bannatyne was elected to fill a vacancy on the board. Mr. W. W. Raff was reappointed honorary auditor. WHANGAREI PRESBYTERIANS CENTEX NT AL FUND [from ouk OWN' correspondent] WHANGAREI, Fridny An optimistic note for the coming year was struck in the reports on tho various activities of the church presented at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Presbyterian Church. .It was reported that £156 was in hand for the centennial fund, which is being raised by the Presbyterian Church throughout New Zealand. Vacancies on the board of managers were filled by tho election of Messrs. L. Wright, A. Crawford, H. A. Brugh, W. McLcod, M. McLeod and F. L. Izod, Mr. J. Doel was appointed auditor.
