The net profit was £3673, against £3397 in tho previous yonr. The chairman, Mr. G. G. Gibbes Watson, said nearly all the cases which had to be adjusted by a Mortgage Adjustment Commission had now been dealt with, and in every case the result had been satisfactory both to the company and to the mortgagor. Usually the company and its mortgagors had been able to come to terms without recourse to the Mortgage Commission. During the . year tho directors had been able to find sufficient securities to employ all available funds, always following a conservative policy. In general preference was given to comparatively small advances on city securities, and wherever possible some portion of the advance was out on table mortgage. By so doing the company was able to meet the requirements of those borrowers who were unable to shoulder the burden entailed by placing the whole advance on table mortgage.
