MORE FRENCH TROUBLE Serious disorders occurred in Paris and other French cities 50 years ago. The following; extract from t © fvEw Zealand of August 10. 1888: "There has been a renewal of noting in Paris. At the funeral of a leading Communist the mob became so demo strative that the police were Co ®P®, j to interfere,. The officers were attaC , • and were compelled to draw swords and charge, the mob. Ol not restored until the police ~SPC, , •_ pistols. Thirty people were wounde the conflict. The strike among tlic vies is to be referred to arbitration, and the Parisian Corporation u „ ros e as arbitrator. The riots at Amiens out of a strike of weavers.
