DAWSON CUP COMPETITION FINAL RESULT IN DOUBT The second round of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association's competition for the Dawson Cup is nearing completion The surprise defeat of Technical Past Students by Wesley last Saturday makes it difficult to determine the final positions of the teams. Technical leads by one point from Wesiev and two points from Mount Eden. The two last-named elevens are capable of taking the leadership Technical and Wcsiev fought a hard game, the play being fust and open. Attacking well* the Technical forwards outclassed the Wesley fullbacks. It was only the splendid footwork of Mrs. A. Wylie in the Wesley goal that prevented Technical from scoring. Wesley had the advantage 111 the second spell, Mrs. Nicholas and Miss H. King drawing the defence to score two goals. Mount. Eden defeated Clevedon in a disappointing game by ono goal. Ihe weak exhibition by the forwards was counteracted by fine hitting by Miss T. Bond and Mrs. L. Asken in the half line. Clevedon failed to make the most of its opportunities. Its backs tackled far too late and left openings for the op posing forwa rd s. University made a welcome return to form in its match against Training College. Miss C. Hull led the attack for University and placed a nice centering shot which enable Miss C. Lynch to-score. Training College kept University 011 defence most, of the time. The challenge matph played between Hikurangi and Kiwi resulted in a decisive victory for the latter, although Hikurangi gave a pleasing performance .for a somewhat inexperienced team.
