THE SHOW BOAT
Sir, —It has been stated that the Harbour Board engineer proposes to burn the "show boat." Why not tow the ship to sea and let the coast defence artillery sink her by gunfire at extreme range? it would be a more realistic and interesting "shoot" than tiring at a Hongkong target. It is, of course, not so easy to sink a wooden ship by gunfire, but the attempt should provide quite a lot of interesting data for the authorities. If the firing took place when people are at liberty, there would be a big "gallery." It would lie an incentive to recruiting. Failing the artillery, the Nary could have lots of fun with it. Oi-d Gunner.
