FISH INDUSTRY

WELLINGTON CONFERENCE REVIEW OF CONDITIONS To discuss conditions in the fish industry, and particularly the export position, representatives of the industry in Auckland and from other parts of the Dominion were summoned to Wellington for a conference with the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, which was held yesterday morning. The members of the Auckland Fisheries Export Committee, appointed last September, were among those from Auckland who attended. Mr. R. E. Price, Conciliation Commissioner, chairman of the committee, and Messrs. J. J. Enwright, S. Vella, A. F. Bow and T. F. Anderson, members of the committee, left for Wellington on Monday night. The deputy-chairman, Mr. E. W. J. Bowden, of the Department of Industries and Commerce, was unable to attend owing to the fact that his office staff had been depleted by the epidemic of measles. It is understood that the conference was called to review the progress made during the year toward the solution of the problems affecting the industry.
