WHANGAREI DEFENCE CLUB [ from our OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday A bright light and a changeable wind were experienced in the final shoot for the Weston Brothers trophy, shot by members of the Whangarei Defence Jtifle Club. Total scores for the trophy were: —W. Boveham, 3»6, W Norris 377; G. Neville, 368; J. Morris, 364-" E. A. Foote, 361; J. Litchfield, 352.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES The annual social evening of the Auckland City Defen.co Rifle Clnb and presentation of prizes was held in the Territorial Association rooms, Rutland Street, there being a record attendance of members and friends. A particularly fine display of trophies won by membors in open competition was a feature of tile evening. , , . .. The more important were:—Championship Cup, Len Adams Cup, Unntoke Cup and Norlh Auckland Challenge Rooster (North Auckland Rifle (Association); Cadet Championship Cup, Open Championship Cup and Gordon Shield (Auckland military meeting); senior and junior Championship Cups (Auckland Grammar School): Rainier Cup and junior champion teams' cup (Auckland Rifle Asscciatkm): Lord Dudley Cup, for a service teams' ma'lcli (New South Wales anniversary nieel.ing): service championship belt, C.l. Cup and Dawson Shield (National Rifle Association of New Zealand): Hubbard Memorial Cup and Frazer Smith Belt (South Auckland Rifle Association). A selection of musical items rendered by club members under the direction of Mr. Eric Bush proved very popular. The prizes won during the year were presented by Captain R. S. Judson, V.C.. who made reference to the excellent progress of the club during the last few years, and especially to its work among junior member). Mr. ,T. R. Draffin, president of the Akarana Club, spoke on similar lines, and Mr. H. G. Collingwood took tho opportunity of thanking the Defence Department for its assistance during tho past season.
