NEW AWARD ISSUED

BILLIARD ROOM EMPLOYEES HOURS AND WAGES RATES A 44-hour week for full-time workers and a 30-hour week for night employees are provided in the Northern industrial district billiards parlours and sports rooms employees' award, which was issued by the Arbitration Court yesterday. The award will remain in force for a year from August 15. Both classes of workers may be employed on six days a week with a maximum of eight hours a day for fulltime workers and of five hours a day in the case of night workers. In the case of the latter an exception is made on Saturdays, when they may be employed for 7J hours. For full-time workers the minimum weekly wage is to be £4 ss, while night workers are to receive at least £3 ss. Any employee who, in addition to his ordinary duties, has to perform cleaning work, is to receive a minimum of £4 10s a week. Provision is made for an annual holiday of one week on full pay.
