CRUISE TO ISLANDS

THE MAUNGANUI'S VISIT MEASLES CASE REPORTED A wireless bulletin from the Union Company's passenger steamer Maunganui, on her second Pacific Islands cruise, reports that the weather was cold for a day or two after leaving Wellington, but that since then fine conditions had been experienced. The steamer reach Nukualofa on Saturday morning and passengers visited various points of interest and thoroughly enjoyed exhibitions of native dancing and singing.* The beautiful harbour of Yavau was visited on Sunday. Passengers wore taken ashoro in ship's boats for a picnic and later to the immense water grotto known as the Swallows' Cave. Tho Maunganui left Yavau on Sunday afternoon for Apia. Unfortunately one of the passengers developed a mild attack of measles and the ship's wireless message advised that as a result passengers would not bo allowed to land at Apia. The stay will bo cut short by a day and extra time will now be spent in Fiji. The Maunganui will return to Auckland on August 19.
