FORESTRY LAND
INCREASE IN VALUATION OBJECTIONS BEFORE COURT [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday Objections to recent revaluations of some 100.000 acres of land in the Matamata County owned by a number of forestry companies were received at a meeting of the Assessment Court held at Putaruru and presided over by Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M. The companies held that the valuations, which were increased, were excessive. On the other hand, the Matamata County Council objected on the ground that, taking into account,,-the prices paid for the tions were too low.
•The Taupo Totara Timber Company, Limited, also objected tc the valuation placed on its railway line • between Putaruru and the 30-mile peg. The objections were adjourned until another sitting of tlia Court to be held in September. With respect to five other objections, the valuations in three cases were sustained, and in the remaining two cases small reductions were made.
