AMMONIA FUMES
*■ TEA ROOMS EVACUATED FAULT IN REFRIGERATOR One of the smaller city tearooms was quickly evacuated yesterday forenoon when a refrigerator developed a fault and gas poured out. lho fumes of ammonia caught the throat. and nose with the severity of sulphurous acid and the waitresses were found coughing at open windows or remaining in refuge beyond their roach. . The trouble, which is a rare one, occurred when the motor was switched on after the cabinet had been cleaned and defrosted. It was fortunate that this dislocation of the business did not occur during a rush period. One man thinks he is the gainer through breathing the fumes. He had been suffering for weeks the last stages of a cold in the chest. The "taste" of ammonia remained in his mouth for hours, but his'bronchial tubes seemed much clearer.
