Morgan \\ llliarns. Those at the meeting which was convened by the Christchurch Dairymen s Association, stated that the fixing of the price for milk used in schools at "lOcl a gallon set an un- ! economic standard. The meeting sought tho fixation of a price for all tho milk supplied, either by the State or through the efforts of the association, membership of which they claimed should be compulsory on every milk producer. The two members of Parliament promised their support for the request of _ the producers, and Mr. Williams Eaid that ho had been informed that -for the next summer at all events the price for milk for schools would be raised a little. Mr. McCombs said the price for tho schools' milk was based on the wholesale price, hut agreed that lOd was too low for winter sales. He advocated the forming of a iinited organisation, which could stop the present unrestricted competition. The meeting finally left Messrs. Mo- > Combs and Williams to place the, position "again before the Minister of Mar kcting, the Hon. W. Nash, and passed a resolution asking tho Department of Internal Marketing to give the society a '.'membership franchise, enabling it to co-operate in a price-fixing plan."
