EXTENSIVE ROAD DAMAGE MINE WORKERS TRANSFERRED [from our own correspondent], PAEROA, Friday Flood damage to roads in the vicinity of Karangahake is! so extensive that it is impossible to transport quartz to tho batteries, and consequently the mines are not working. Representations have been made by the Ohinemuri County Council for the men to be engaged on repairing flood damage under the employment scheme. Authority has been received from the Labour Department for the usual fortnight stand-down period to be waived. It is expected that 20 men will be available for work on the roads on Monday morning.

The tide commenced to rise again at noon to-day and by shortly after one o'clock had tilled the water channels. It then commenced to recede.
