By One Whc Writ's Them ' Mr. Horace Vachell has been talking of books to the boys of Ottershaw College, Burrey, and this is one of the things he said. We should judge a book 011 points, fine] there nre ten outstanding qualifications of perfection: story, plot, style, characterisation, imagination, credulity, right balance of narrative and dialogue, wit, humour, and perhaps best of all, charm. We should acquire a critical faculty because it is stupid not to be able to give a reason for likes and dislikes.
