SAVED BY EXECUTIONER
Sentenced to death for strangling her daughter-in-law, Mine. Josephine Mary, of Paris, has had the sentence commuted to life imprisonment. France's hereditary executioner, M. Henri Deibler, told the Ministry of Justice he would retire rather than execute u woman. He lias guillotined 300 people, but. on the ground that misfortune has befallen all official executioners who have executed a woman, ho has always refused.to do so.
