AUCKLAND BIRTHS
INCREASE MAINTAINED FIGURES FOR SEVEN MONTHS A slightly greater proportion of births than deaths, compared with July of last year, is shown by tho Auckland vital statistics for this month. This advantage is lost, however, when the figures for the first seven months of each year are compared, when it is shown that, although there have been 121 more births this year than last, the increase in the number of deaths has been 129 Births this month total 239, compared with 222 last July, while the figures for the seven months are 167:4 this year and 1549 last.. Deaths increased from 215 last July to 223 this month, and for tho seven months the figures were 1217 last year and 1346 this vear.
Marriages showed an increase in both the monthly and the sevenmonthly periods. For this month they have been 206, compared with 20:5 last July, and for the seven months they have been 1756 for 1938 and 1009 for 1937 Marriages by the registrar, these figures being included in the totals, have decreased, being 48 this mouth and 51 last duly, but the seven-monthly figures have increased from 312 last vear to 386 this year.
