Wednesday The advisory committee set up by tho Government to carry out investigations and make recommendations concerning the fixing of guaranteed prices for butter ami cheese for the lieu - dairy season opening on Monday held its first meeting in Wellington this morning. The committee comprises Sir Francis Frazer, chairman; Messrs. G. A. Duncan, N. H. Moss and 11. M. Caselherg, Government representatives; and Messrs. C. P. Agar and W. Marshall and Professor A. 11. Tucker, representing the dairy industry. Tho committee is being supplied with full statistical data and other relevant information concerning the general position of the dairy industry, and the examination of all this material and the hearing of witnesses will probably take several days. The committee's report will include recommendations for the new season's prices, but the final decision will rest with the Government.
