JEWISH REFUGEES
SETTLEMENT IN DOMINION PROPOSAL FOR ASSISTANCE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON, Wednesday A suggestion that persecuted Jews be assisted to settle in New Zealand was adopted at a recent meeting or tho Wellington council of the League of Nations Union. The Rev. Gordon McKenzie presided. Making the suggestion that the union should support action to assist the persecuted Jews and that their settlement in New Zealand should bo facilitated, Mr. l r . Martyn Renner, a member of the advisory committee, said, in n letter, that they would not be a burden on the community and would certainly prove more desirable settlers than Japanese immigrants. The letter was referred to tho Dominion council for favourable consideration, members unanimously supporting tho proposal.
