DANGER TO MOTORISTS
CROSSING IN MOUNT EDEN GOVERNMENT ACTION URGED "Unless this road is gi\en attention a serious fatality will result," said Mr. A. C. Johns nt tho Mount Eden Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening, referring to tho danger to motorists at tho level crossing in Boston Road, Mount Eden. "A serious accident occurred there last night, lie added. it was stated that a recent tally of traffic showed that 1000 vehicles used the crossing on one day. Jh e crossing was increasingly popular with motorists travelling to and from Syniouds Street. Normanby Road had been recently widened to take care of the increased traffic, but this was considered inadequate. "It certainly is a dangerous crossing," said the Mayor, Mr. R. .T. Mills. "There is no chance, of seeing the train approach." Mr. .Johns stated that the council had the support of the City Council in the matter, and on his suggestion It. was decided to urge the latter body to press the matter with the Government. for urgent consideration. The Mount Eden Council is to do the same.
