Sir,—l notice where n child was attacked by magpies at A\aikanae. Well, knowing the precociousness of these birds. 1 am quite willing to believe the complaint. (.'oinji round the ewes on hill country. I have come across magpies picking the eves out of unfortunate ewes down while lambing—just as had as hawks. E.H.I'.
